Due to the covid-19 pandemic, this year the 4-day European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (EUBCE) was transformed into an online event. At e-EUBCE 2020 the MUSIC project was presented in the form of a poster prepared by MUSIC project partner DBFZ. The poster, entitled “Supply Chain Management for Intermediate Bioenergy Carriers – Analysis of Four European Case Studies” can be found here.
The poster shows key preliminary findings on the macro-environment of supply chains for selected Intermediate Bioenergy Carriers - IBC (including torrefied biomass, fast pyrolysis bio-oil and microbial oil), resulting from a PESTEL analysis and a series of online workshops. How the macro-environmental factors impact the stakeholders along the IBC supply chain is subject to further investigation in the MUSIC case studies that are being conducted in four regions: Sweden/Finland, Italy, Greece, and Belgium/Europe.
“It was great that the EUBCE was not cancelled but instead transformed into an innovative online format. I enjoyed presenting our preliminary findings from the MUSIC project in one of the poster sessions. Actually, I liked the poster sessions best, as it was fairly easy to look at the posters in advance and contribute to the discussions. Nevertheless, I hope EUBCE will be “physical” instead of “virtual” again next year, as I did miss the direct dialogue and the coffee breaks with colleagues and friends which led to the most fruitful discussions and ideas in the past.” (Alexandra Pfeiffer, DBFZ)
